Learning to Draw and Paint
I did not start out like most artists. if you read their biographies, most started drawing and painting at a young age. This was not true for me.
Though I had a creative side, I knew that I was not talented. I did not really start drawing and painting until I was in my 40's. My false belief had held me back!
Above, are some of my earlier works created during 2003. I decided to take myself seriously, and practice alot. One could say, compulsively. Within a year I had learned how to draw off of photographs, and got bored. I wanted more from my art experience!

So, Here's More!
I went to school to learn how to oil paint. (The 2 paintings above, to the left.) And I really loved oil painting. With one or two exceptions. Not expressive enough and too messy. Yes, painting with oil can be quite expressive. I just couldn't loosen up with it.So, next I tried watercolor. (Last 2 paintings above)Watercolor, I fell in love with. It is unpredicatable and exciting. I can make it tight, or loose. Romantic or spiritual. I can draw with watercolor pencils, or paint with the oddest brushes. It is a medium that is fun and creative.I believe that I will be sticking with watercolor for quite a while!
